Longtime Crothersville businessman and co-owner of Regal Industries, Lee D. ‘Sam’ Royalty, 67, died Sunday morning, Jan. 11, at his home following a long battle with cancer.
Born October 26, 1942 in Scottsburg, he was the son of the late Robert Lee and Mildred (Wilson) Royalty.
Sam was a 1961 Crothersville High School graduate, attended Indiana State University, and served six years in the Army reserve. He was a member of the Crothersville Church of the Nazarene and Scott County Moose Lodge in Scottsburg.
Sam was a carpenter building many homes, churches and businesses around Southern Indiana area from 1965-1971. He was co-owner of Regal Insulation Inc. of Crothersville since 1971.
Mentoring the youth of the community, Sam coached little league and pony league baseball for a number of years.
On July 31, 1965 in Crothersville he married Florence ‘Bootsie’ (Paul) Royalty who survives in Crothersville.
He is also survived by two sons, Andy (Misty) Royalty and Aaron Royalty both of Seymour; three brothers, Ralph (Floral) Royalty, Morris (and his friend Bev) Royalty both of Crothersville, John T. (Carol) Royalty of Montague, MI; a sister, Emmerine (Don) Mitchell of Freetown; four grandchildren, Taylor, Drew, Alex, and Kennedy Royalty all of Seymour.
Two sisters and five brothers preceded him in death.
The funeral is to be conducted today (Wednesday) at 11 a.m. from Adams Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Wooten officiating. Burial is to be in Crothersville Cemetery.
