Santa Claus stopped by Crothersville Saturday evening during the CARD sponsored Crothersville Community Christmas Tree lighting. In addition he greeted the children, lead singing of Christmas carols, and awarded turkeys and hams. Turkeys went to Chilton Abner and Terri Reynolds. Hams were won by Julia Bell and Melissa Glenn.
Competition for People’s Choice Christmas Season Awards for Best Decorated Home (Outside Only) and Best Decorated Business Tree is underweay until Sunday, Dec. 13. All entries must be located in Vernon Township. Nominations should be submitted to the Town Hall, or by emailing to musictjk@ymail.com.
Santa will deliver the trophies to the winners on December 18.
CARD would like to thank Tanners’ Market for assisting with the turkeys and hams, the Crothersville United Methodist Church for their hospitality, Santa and his elves for taking part in lighting the tree to begin the Christmas season in the Crothersville community.
A limited number of Sesquicentennial souvenirs are still available at the Town Hall. Reduced rates for Totes, Cookbooks, and Hats are $5. Plates and Banners are now $10. In addition, the recently completed Crothersville Memoir Books are available for $15.
CARD meets every third Monday at 5:30 p.m. at the Crothersville Library meeting room. Everyone is invited to join in helping to revitalize and beautify Crothersville. All funds are administered by the Community Foundation of Jackson County, and are used for projects undertaken by CARD to improve this community.
