An alert Scott County druggist’s tip last Friday resulted in the arrest of an Austin man on a variety of drug related charges.
Roy Coomer Jr, 30, of Austin was arrested by Indiana State Police arrested on a number of related charges involving stolen, unauthorized or forged prescription for Oxycontin.
The prescription for the pain killer was filled by the pharmacist. But later, it was determined that the doctor’s signature was not only forged but the prescription was also believed stolen from the physician’s Charlestown medical office.
Police arrested Coomer at his Mann Avenue residence without incident. When he was arrested a large number of the pills were missing from the bottle, police reported.
Coomer was incarcertated in Scott County Jail and faces charges of dealing in a controlled substance, registration violation, and possession of a schedule II controlled substance.
