CTP cast for “Winter Fancies” include Eunice Lacey, Brenda Holzworth, Linda Seals, Bill Nagle, Brenda Bradley, Cristy Bush, Megan Ramey, Brayden Growe, Jessica Hunt, and Z. Madge Wilson.
Acoustic Guitar Soloist Matt White will be performing holiday selections for the evening.
Hoosier Poet James Whitcomb Riley was born in 1849 and began his career in 1875 writing verses in nineteenth century Hoosier dialect for the Indianapolis Journal.
Riley gradually rose in national prominence during the 1880s through his reading tours. He traveled a circuit with other humorists, holding shows and sharing the stage with other well known talents including Samuel Clemens–Mark Twain.
James Whitcomb Riley is buried at the highest point in Indianapolis, at the top of Crown Hill Cemetery.
The Crothersville Town Players is an association of performers from Jackson, and surrounding. The CTP calls Hamacher Hall their playhouse. Hamacher Hall is the former 1st Presbyterian Church of Crothersville and was featured in the September 2006 issue of the Indiana Preservationist magazine for its transformation into a useful Community Theater effort. Hamacher Hall was built in 1885, and has ties to John Hamacher, a founder of the Indiana town of Crothersville.
Memberships are available for $12 annually, or $6 for students. Monetary donations and volunteers are always welcomed.
