Crothersville Community School Superintendent Terry Goodin presents retiring board member Fran Schill with a plaque acknowledging his eight years of service on the school board.
In all, Schill has served 38 years in the Crothersville School system as a teacher, administrator and school board member.

The Crothersville Board of School Trustees met for the final time in this fiscal year last Monday, June 14, and approved some personnel changes.
The board approved hiring Dennis Maxie, Katrina Hoevener and Darryl Elliott as extra-curricular bus drivers.
Also approved was Linda Maxie as a class sponsor for the Class of 2012; Kisten Reynolds and Valerie Mains were approved as class sponsors for the Class of 2017.
The board approved a maternity leave for high school teacher Rebecca Carroll and accepted the resignation of Kelly Schmelzle as a class sponsor for the Class of 2013.
The board approved the retirement of elementary secretary Sonja Elliott.
Superintendent Terry Goodin reported that around $2,700 in over due book rental fees is unpaid by Crothersville school students’ families. He sought and received board approval to file suit in small claims court to recover past due book rental.
“Hopefully, half of that will be paid before we have to go to court,” he told the board.
The superintendent asked the board for permission to extend the school’s temporary loan from the Peoples Bank. The school obtain the loan to shore up cash flow because of property tax payments being chronically late over the past several years.
“We just need to extend that loan until this year’s tax distribution comes through,” he told the board.
However, that loan extension may not need to occur as it was learned last week that the spring tax draw from property taxes paid by May 10 is expected to be sent out this Friday, according to county officials.
In a final bit of business, the board said good-bye to board member Fran Schill who served the local school board for eight years.
