Members of the Crothersville FFA and Crothersville-Vernon Township Fire Dept. explained the importance of Fire Safety week to local 4th grade classes last week. The convocation consisted of a fire drill, and the FFA Officers showing students how to stop, drop and roll, feeling of the door for fire on the other side, when and how to call 911 for emergency help, developing and escape plan, and smoke detector usage.
The Fire Department showed students the proper reactions when your house is on fire, and showed the gear they wear and the fire trucks used to fight fires.
Above, local Fire Chief, Ben Spencer talks to Crothersville Elementary School 4th grade class about best practices when it comes to fire safety. Students heard from FFA Officers who spoke about different areas of fire safety.
