An early look at the schedule of events for this year’s Crothersville Lions Club Red, White & Blue Festival indicates a lot of wholesome family centered fun-filled activities.
The 35th annual salute to Veterans and Old Glory will be June 10-12 Fiesta Carnival will begin the festival on Wednesday, June 9, will a special ride promotion, according to Red, White & Blue director Sherry Bridges.
“Something new this year will be a motorcycle show,” she said. Motorcycles will be on display from 2-4 p.m. “They will be taking part in the parade and back on display following the parade,” she said. Pastor Irvin and Jill Benge are in charge of the event.
The Red, White & Blue Talent Show will be returning to its original rules as in its beginning some 30 years ago, Bridges said. Sarah Cole will be gearing up a full slate of entertainers.
Following the talent show the gospel group ‘Riding Saints’ will perform.
‘From The Ashes’ a gospel group from Uniontown Baptist Church will entertain on Friday, June 11, at 7 p.m. Also at that time the CHS Alumni basketball game will tip off in the auxiliary gym. At 8 p.m. ‘Redneck Rattlesnake Band’ will perform on stage.
On Saturday morning, an adult co-ed volleyball tourney will be played at 9 a.m. Kara Hunt is organizing the event to benefit the CHS volleyball program.
Performing for the first time will be the Lighthouse Tabernacle Youth on June 12 immediately following the parade.
A crowd pleaser for a number of years, Allene Hougland will share the daily dabble of Dorothy June Higgins.
Elvis impersonator Travis Albertson will drive his pink Cadillac in to town on Saturday and perform on the festival stage at 7 p.m.
Closing out the festival will be the local band ‘Southern Comfort’.
“There are a few other activities being planned and we always welcome community involvement,” said Bridges. The festival committee will meet to finalize all events next Thursday, May 26, at 6: 30 p.m. at the Crothersville library. “Anyone interested in helping with this year’s festival is encouraged to attend,” she said.
